SDG Alignment

Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals

FoodFair contributes directly to the achievement of the SDGs, with a primary focus on SDG 2 and SDG 12.

Our Contribution to the Global Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity. FoodFair's work directly contributes to several of these goals through food redistribution, waste reduction, and community strengthening.

SDG 2

SDG 2 — Zero Hunger

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition

By redistributing surplus food to charities and food banks, FoodFair directly contributes to ending hunger and ensuring access to safe, nutritious food. Our platform has facilitated over 35 million meal equivalents since 2013, reaching vulnerable populations across five European countries.

How FoodFair contributes

  • Redistributing surplus food to 550+ charitable associations serving people in need across Europe.
  • Improving dietary diversity by providing access to fresh produce, dairy, and varied food products.
  • Supporting food banks and social grocery stores that serve over 240,000 people annually in Belgium alone.
SDG 12

SDG 12.3 — Halve Food Waste

Responsible consumption and production

Target 12.3 calls for halving per capita food waste by 2030. FoodFair's platform provides the infrastructure to redirect surplus from landfill to people, preventing over 14,700 tonnes of edible food from being wasted and demonstrating a scalable model for food waste reduction.

How FoodFair contributes

  • Preventing 14,700+ tonnes of food waste through systematic redistribution across the supply chain.
  • Providing traceability and data tools that help businesses measure and reduce their food waste footprint.
  • Contributing to EU food waste reduction targets through participation in FUSIONS, REFRESH, and CIBUS projects.
